To get the best results, follow these guidelines:
  • Keep prompts descriptive and simple.
  • Prompt limit: 1000 characters.
  • Lyrics limit: 5000 characters.
  • You can describe song sections like this:
    • [Intro – soft piano and light synths]
    • [Chorus – repeat with more intensity]
    • [Bridge – add soft strings or a subtle beat drop]
  • Do not include any artist names in the prompt and lyrics. This applies to the prompt, lyrics, and music_style fields. Selecting a voice model through voice_id is a separate mechanism and is not affected — look voices up with Get Voices by Name.

Best Practice

  • If you provide lyrics: Use music_style to describe the genre, mood, or musical style, and leave prompt empty.
  • If lyrics is empty: Use prompt to describe the complete song, and leave music_style empty.
